York Health and Wellbeing Board
The York Health and Wellbeing Strategy sets a clear vision that over the next decade ‘York will be healthier, and that health will be fairer’.
York Health and Wellbeing Board
Every local authority has a statutory requirement to have a Health and Wellbeing Board. The Health and Wellbeing Board in York hold public meetings 6 times per year and they work together to make improvements to the health and wellbeing of York residents.
Together the board undertakes the following:
- produces a Joint Strategic Needs Assessment, to identify the health and wellbeing needs of the city’s population
- produces a Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy, setting out what the health and wellbeing priorities for the city will be and how these will be addressed
- produces a Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (available on the Health York website), which is used to decide on new pharmacy applications
- are responsible for signing off Better Care Fund Plans. These plans encourage health and social care integration and allow local authorities and the NHS to work together to pool budgets and integrate spending plans
