About Community Voices
Want to know more about the latest news, developments and potential changes across our local NHS? We would love you to join our growing public membership scheme, Community Voices.
It’s entirely up to you how involved you would like to be. From regular news bulletins to watching presentations and asking questions of our local clinicians and decision makers. You will also have the chance to give your thoughts through surveys and help us engage with our wonderfully diverse communities. The voice is at the heart of everything we do and we are passionate about listening to your ideas and experiences.
There is so much you can get involved with.
How much you get involved is your choice:
Level 1
Receive regular newsletters – a mixture of health-related news from the ICB to include local and national. Update on health campaigns and opportunities for people to get involved in projects of work.
Level 2
As well as receive regular newsletters, you will be invited to a mix of virtual/in-person Patient Engagement Network (PEN) meeting. These meetings will be an opportunity for the public to gain more in-depth knowledge of what is happening locally, by watching presentations and being able to take part in Q&A sessions with ICB leaders and project managers. Please see below, notes from previous meetings and future dates.
Level 3
Members can be more heavily involved in everything we do. Members will be invited to form focus groups on particular projects we need public input, proof documents, help plan/implement and engagement approach.
We look forward to welcoming you as part of Community Voices.

The Patient Engagement Network (PEN) is comprised of registered members from our public membership scheme, Community Voices, specifically those at levels 2 and 3.
Members who have chosen to be more actively involved will be invited to participate in PEN meetings. These meetings are held quarterly and include a mix of virtual and in-person sessions.
The primary purpose of PEN is to bring together representatives from across Humber and North Yorkshire. We believe that the more informed the public is, the more valuable their involvement and insights become in helping us deliver the best possible health and care services across the region. Gathering public views on specific projects will be a key component of this work.
These meetings provide an opportunity for the public to gain a deeper understanding of local developments by viewing presentations and participating in Q&A sessions with ICB leaders and project managers.
We regularly ask our members for feedback on how these sessions are received, here is a snap shot of the feedback we have received:
“Thank you for inviting us to participate in future planning, so important to the users of NHS services”
“A great session – thank you for allowing us to attend”
“This was probably the best engagement meeting we have had with the ICB”
“The event was very well run”
Recent survey results show – 96% of members would be happy to be involved in future events
86% say they have a better understanding of the NHS.
