This year, Know Your Numbers Week takes place from 2-8 September 2024.
The annual campaign aims to reach those who have high blood pressure and may not know it, so they can get the treatment and support they need to bring it under control.
As high blood pressure usually has no symptoms, the first sign of it could be a heart attack or stroke. It can also cause kidney disease, dementia and other illnesses. However, these tragedies can be prevented through awareness of high blood pressure, blood pressure checks and management.
We want to encourage everyone to get measuring through any of the options available to them including measuring their blood pressure with a home device, visiting their local pharmacy, community blood pressure station or through facilities at their GP practice.
This year’s campaign is particularly focused on monitoring blood pressure at home. Home monitoring is an effective and inexpensive way for people to keep track of their numbers without the need to visit a healthcare professional. It offers people a way to take control of their health, feel confident, and take the pressure off the NHS at the same time.
This year, we want everyone to ‘Know Their Numbers’ to help improve the detection of undiagnosed hypertension.
What’s happening during Know Your Numbers Week?
Partners across the Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care System are organising activities in community settings across the system in support of Know Your Numbers Week – we’ll be uploading details to the Let’s Get Better website once events are confirmed.
