We Need To Talk.

The story of the NHS is a story for us all. The NHS is there for us at the best of times, such as bringing a new life into this world, and also the worst of times, when we hear bad news such a diagnosis of a life-limiting illness or the death of a loved one.

In the Autumn, we spoke to thousands of people from across our communities to get your thoughts on what you felt should be our priorities and what the NHS could do differently. We called this public engagement ‘We Need to Talk’. We would like to thank everyone who took part and gave their views.

What we Learned.

  • Almost 4,800 people took part in the public engagement across Humber and North Yorkshire
  • 97 per cent of people supported a view that change is needed in the NHS
  • Around 70 per cent of people said they believed some NHS services should be delivered differently or stopped altogether
  • Without further investment, people want us to prioritise Primary Care, Emergency Care and Mental Health Care
  • Many of you told us preventing ill health needed to be an area of focus for the future of the NHS

What we heard.
