Pastures Day Services in Goole will be hosting a drop-in event to support adults with learning disabilities and autistic people, as well as their families and carers.
The ‘Love Your Life’ event on Wednesday 19 February from 10am to 3pm will feature a selection of market stalls and information points which will inform people of the support that is available to them.
Throughout the event visitors will be able to explore Pastures Day Service and find out information on the following:
- Healthcare services
- Leisure services
- Accessing health checks with the option to try out the BoditraxTM machine
- Housing
- Employment
- Benefits and debt
- Transport
- Advocacy
- Carers services
‘Love Your Life’ is an inclusive event, held by professionals within a supportive environment. The aim is to provide information to empower individuals with learning disabilities and autism, helping them to achieve improved health, wellbeing and quality of life.
People from Pastures Day Services will be taking part in the event and there will be many activities throughout the day including sports, tabletop activities and crafts.
Visitors will have access to leaflets which outline the support available and there will be quiet spaces open to people who wish to use them.
Refreshments will also be available throughout the event. There is a small car park on site and on-street parking in the surrounding area.
The event is a collaboration between NHS Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (ICB), East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust,, Cygnet Primary Care Network and the Smile Foundation.
NHS Humber and North Yorkshire ICB’s East Riding Director, Simon Cox, said: “I am delighted the ICB and our partners are able to stage this event at Pastures Day Services in Goole for people with learning disabilities and autism – and their family and carers. We are looking forward to extending a warm welcome to everyone who attends, and hopefully connecting people to additional help and support.”
Councillor Jonathan Owen, East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s cabinet member for adults, health and care, said: ‘’This is an important event, created with the intention of helping not only those with learning disabilities and autism, but their families and carers too.
‘’The team have worked collaboratively to pull together a collection of varied and interesting activities, with information readily available to all those who are looking for some extra support.’’
