Humber and North Yorkshire Local Maternity System (LMS) re-named to Local Maternity and Neonatal System (LMNS).

“I’m very excited to see that we’re now reflecting all our work with our neonatal teams reflected in our new name, and I know we’ll be continuing to work in partnership to support all our communities.”

– Becky Case, Humber and North Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership’s Local Maternity and Neonatal System Programme Lead.

You may have noticed over the last few weeks that the LMS is now the LMNS in meetings, on documents and heading up the Local Maternity System website.

As a Local Maternity System, we’ve always supported the work done in pre-term birth, neonatal care and transitional care and for two years now we’ve had clinical leads for both obstetrics and neonatology advising us as to how to develop services across the ICS.

Additionally, from April 2023, we will be working with our regional Specialist Commissioning teams to have a wider role in commissioning and managing neonatal services in our area. This will support the work done to redraw neonatal pathways and enhance unit provision alongside the Neonatal Critical Care Review and the Humber Acute Services Review in planning for the future.

Our Maternity Voices Partnership groups who work in local places to represent service users, partners and stakeholders will continue to input into conversations about our babies. They coproduce guidance, information and surveys with us to ensure we hear all voices from our communities.

So, we wanted to recognise this and to change our name to include these important parts of our services –welcome to the rebranded Local Maternity and Neonatal System!
