Our Vision By 2030, we aim to narrow the gap in healthy life expectancy across our region and increase healthy life expectancy by five years by 2035.

Our Vision

By 2030, we aim to narrow the gap in healthy life expectancy across our region and increase healthy life expectancy by five years by 2035.

To achieve this, we will transform healthcare facilities, embrace digital innovation, and ensure our infrastructure meets the needs of a growing and changing population.

Key Challenges

  • Aging & Underutilised Estate – Many of our healthcare buildings require investment to remain safe and fit for purpose.
  • Population Growth & Housing Development – Increased demand on primary care services due to planned housing growth.
  • Financial Constraints – A need to balance investment priorities with limited funding.
  • Net Zero Commitments – Ensuring our estate is sustainable and environmentally responsible.

Our Priorities

  • Optimise Our Estate – Improve how we use our healthcare buildings, ensuring they are accessible and cost-effective.
  • Expand Primary & Community Care – Support local health hubs and neighbourhood teams to bring care closer to home.
  • Modernise & Digitise – Use digital tools to improve efficiency and enhance patient experiences.
  • Tackle Inequalities – Ensure fair access to high-quality healthcare facilities for all communities.
  • Sustainability & Climate Resilience – Work towards a Net Zero NHS with greener, more efficient buildings.

How We’ll Get There

  • Collaborative Planning – Working with local councils, NHS partners, and community organisations to align our estate with future needs.
  • Investment & Funding Strategy – Prioritising projects that have the greatest impact on patient care and financial sustainability.
  • Workforce & Training Facilities – Creating modern spaces to train and support healthcare staff.
  • Stronger Governance – Establishing clear leadership and oversight to drive progress.

Looking Ahead

This strategy is a living document, evolving as we respond to emerging challenges and opportunities. With strong partnerships and a clear vision, we are building a healthier, more sustainable future for everyone in Humber and North Yorkshire.
