On Wednesday 19th May the Covid Vaccination Programme reached the major milestone of one million first dose Covid vaccinations across the Humber, Coast and Vale region. This is equivalent to 71% of the adult population. Combined with second doses 1.68 million doses of the vaccine have now been given.
A breakdown of the various cohorts shows that 99.9% of care home residents and residential care workers have been vaccinated, along with 95.5% of over 80s and health and social care workers.
97.2% of 75-79 year olds and 95.6% of 70-74 year olds and the clinically extremely vulnerable have now been vaccinated. Uptake remains high across all age groups.
Even the 30-39 year old cohort, which has only come on board in the past week, are already at an impressive 24% rate for first vaccinations, with booking levels at a high level, as with older cohorts.
Of the 1.68m total vaccines administered, 1.32m were received in local vaccination centres, managed by each of the primary care networks. A further 225,000 vaccinations were given at the three mass vaccination centres in the region, at York, Hull and Scunthorpe.
The remaining 135,000 were vaccinated in hospital hubs run by York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Hull University Teaching Hospital NHS Trust, Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust and Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust.
I am delighted with the on-going success of the vaccination programme, which is thanks to the incredible effort of a huge number of staff and volunteers across the Partnership.
Anyone who has previously been invited to have their vaccine but has not yet done so is encouraged to book an appointment to have their vaccine as soon as possible. It’s not too late to book and having the vaccine is the best way to protect yourself from the virus.
As of Wednesday 26th May, people aged 30 and over are now eligible to have their Covid-19 vaccine. If you cannot find an appointment at your nearest vaccination centre please keep trying to book as more appointments become available as vaccine supplies are received.
Please make sure you attend your second dose appointment, and if you are unable to attend please cancel and rebook.
And, finally, please continue to follow the rules, even after you have had your vaccine. Wash your hands regularly and follow the guidance on social distancing and wearing face coverings.
