HNY Inc. > Bitesize training sessions
Bitesize training sessions
HNY Inc. is our workstream for workforce inclusion across Humber and North Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership.
As part of our wider work to improve inclusion literacy across our partnership, the Humber and North Yorkshire (HNY) Inclusion Assembly is inviting minoritised colleagues and active allies to volunteer to help co-design our five new bitesize inclusion training sessions. We are proud to be working with Diversity Company on this initiative.

Why we are creating bitesize training sessions
Humber and North Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership is working collaboratively across our system to ensure all colleagues feel safe, welcome and supported.
We want every person to be able to bring their whole self to work and thrive through equity, justice and opportunity.
The Partnership does this through the Inclusion Assembly – our system working group focused on workforce inclusion.
Over the last year, members of the HNY Inclusion Assembly have been identifying key priorities for our workforce inclusion work across our partnership.
Access to inclusion staff training was highlighted as a priority, specifically around incorporating all protected characteristics to respect the additional barriers that arise when different parts of our identities intersect. Based on the concept of intersectionality first coined by Professor Kimberlé Crenshaw, the Assembly approaches our system inclusion work from this position.

The Assembly is working with Diversity Company to co-design and co-deliver five bitesize staff training sessions covering key inclusion concepts that will be shared across all health and care organisations. We are working in partnership with minoritised colleagues and allies to provide our workforce with the knowledge and skills needed to understand the value and importance of inclusive spaces for all.
How is this different to the allyship work?
The five bitesize training sessions will supplement the work we’ve done on co-designing our system approach to allyship, creating a training pathway for colleagues to follow when upskilling around inclusive practice in the workplace.
Who can get involved
All system-level inclusion activity is co-designed with minoritised colleagues from across health and care and is informed by lived experience.
This project is open to both minoritised colleagues and active allies who work in the health and care sector in Humber and North Yorkshire, including:
- NHS hospital, community and mental health trusts
- Primary care (general practice, opthalmology, pharmacy and dentistry)
- Social care (independent sector and local authorities)
- Local authorities
- Voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE)
Although the HNY Inclusion Assembly includes co-chairs, faciliators and leaders from staff networks in organisations across our partnership, colleagues do not need to be a member of a staff network or of the Assembly to take part.
What is involved in taking part
The co-design process will be done virtually using MS Teams and working with our partners Diversity Company.
We’re using a similar process to the one we adopted for phase 1 (allyship and advocacy), but with key timelines set out at the outset to ensure timely delivery.
This means that all volunteers and EDI leads will need to:
- be available to attend five two-hour virtual workshops
- be able to input into the process / share thoughts on materials in between workshops throughout
It will be possible to feed in digitally to each session (ie if there’s a workshop you can’t attend) and we’ll use our dedicated MS Teams space to keep in touch / share feedback, thoughts and ideas in between sessions.
We will work with all colleagues taking part to ensure the sessions are fully accessible.
